Trip Overview

The Northern Circuit is the longest and most remote route on Kilimanjaro. It provides stunning, diverse views as it circumnavigates the mountain, offering an unparalleled experience for those who are looking for something extraordinary. With nine days of trekking, this route ensures the best acclimatization and gives you the highest chance of success.

Itineraries

Day 1

Enter at Nale Moru Gate (1,900m), trek through forest to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,700m).

Day 2

Cross moorland to Shira 1 Camp (3,500m).

Day 3

Traverse Shira Plateau to Shira 2 Camp (3,840m).

Day 4

Trek alpine desert to Moir Camp (4,200m).

Day 5

Climb to Kikelewa Caves, descend to Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,300m).

Day 6

Trek to Kibo Hut (4,700m), rest before summit.

Day 7

: Summit attempt to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) and descend to Millennium Camp (3,700m).

Day 8

Final descent through forest to Mweka Gate.
